Redskins Finished Retaining Free Agents

News Washington Commanders

On Tuesday, Tim Hasselbeck became the final restricted free agent to re-sign with the Redskins. In a span of three days last week, the Redskins re-signed restricted free agents Rock Cartwright, Demetric Evans, Ron Warner and Andre Lott.

With the re-signing of Hasselbeck, the Redskins appear to be finished with retaining any free agents. The Redskins currently have two unrestricted free agents available, tight end Brian Kozlowski and safety Pat Dennis. Both of whom appear unlikely to return.

The Redskins only lost three players through free agency. Safety Todd Franz returned to Green Bay, cornerback Fred Smoot headed north to Minnesota and linebacker Antonio Pierce stayed in the NFC East by signing with the New York Giants.

In all, the Redskins entered free agency with 20 players not under contract. The team retained fifteen. Despite losing two starters, the Redskins were successful in free agency when it comes to retaining free agents.
