Jacksonville Jaguars

2005 Results: 12-4, 2nd in AFC South
2006 Projected Cap Status: $75,000,000

2005 Season Recap:
The Jaguars only lost 4 games in ’05 but two were against the team they finished behind in the Division (the Colts). Byron Leftwich was injured late in the season but David Garrard filled in nicely. Many feel the won-loss record was due more to a light schedule than to the Jaguars play on the field. There is a youth movement underway in Jacksonville. Del Rio has been fazing out cornerstones of the Jaguar offense; Greg Jones filled in for the often injured Fred Taylor and looks ready to take over the spot. In many multi-receiver sets you could find Jimmy Smith on the sidelines watching his future replacements (Reggie Williams and Matt Jones) running the routes he always ran for this team. The defense was overhauled last off-season and carried this team to their 12-4 record.

Team Needs:
1. Tight End – Kyle Brady is an excellent blocker but had less than 20 catches in 2005. George Wrighster is a good receiver but can’t block.
2. Wide Receiver – The Jags drafted receivers in the first round the last two years in Williams and Jones, but neither has shown they are the playmaker that the team needs.
3. Guard – Chris Naeole and Vince Manuwai are the starters but should both be back ups. There was more to Fred Taylor’s Avg. YPC dropping this year than just his injuries.
