News Washington Commanders

Joe Gibbs recently defended how the team is structured, saying that when he returned he felt the structure, with him as the top decision maker, was the right way to go. He reaffirmed his belief in the “group decisions system”, which includes Vinny Cerrato, Louis Riddick, Dan Snyder, as well as the rest of the coaches. This means that it is not likely that the Skins will hire a General Manager in the near future.

Gibbs also mentioned that he would like to see the league allow teams to keep all 53 players on Sunday’s active list and be able to play if the team needs them, and he said an initiative might be started after the season. Gibbs also questioned why the team has to announce the 3rd string quarterback prior to the game.

Post-Game Injury Report:

– ROT Jon Jansen re-aggravated a calf injury on Sunday. The injury had flared up in practice last week.
– TE Christian Fauria suffered an ankle injury on Sunday; he suffered the injury during pre-game warm-ups and had his ankle taped.
– TE Chris Cooley suffered a bruised shoulder early in Sunday’s game, but the injury is not considered to be serious.
– Antwaan Randle-El also aggravated a heel injury on Sunday.

All four players played through their injuries. Lemar Marshall’s ankle remains sore, but he is the only one from this group not on this week’s injury report.
