Taylor Shot

News Washington Commanders

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was shot just before 2:00 am on Monday morning at his house in Florida.

Few official details have been released, and while the mainstream media have done their best to make sure that football fans receive a fountain of misinformation, very few actual facts are known about the situation. Taylor is fighting for his life; he was apparently shot near the femoral artery and spent many hours in surgery this morning after being airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The Miami Herald reported that, “Taylor was at home with his girlfriend and their young daughter when he heard a noise in the back of his house. He went to investigate and was supposedly shot in the groin, in an area where a lot of arteries are. The gunshot by the alleged robber has caused him to lose a lot of blood.”

Redskins owner Dan Snyder issued the following official statement, “On behalf of the Redskins, the players and everyone here at Redskin Park, our hearts and prayers go out to Sean and his family. Myself and a group of Redskins are on our way to Miami. I really don’t have any details other than what everyone else has been reading and reporting; Our hearts and prayers are with Sean and his family.”

Despicably, some media outlets are speculating about Sean’s football future and what this means to the Redskins organization. For some reason, some reporters also think that now would be a good time to bring up any and all past football and off-field issues that have been attributed to Taylor since entering the NFL.

Who cares?

A man’s life is in the balance – a man with a very young daughter. What could possibly matter other than Taylor pulling through?

The members of the THN community would just like to extend their thoughts and prayers to Sean and his entire family.
