Team Needs: Seattle Seahawks

NFL Draft

2007 Results: 10-6
2008 Projected Cap Status: $3,387,030 under the cap

2007 Season Recap:

The Seattle Seahawks won their fourth consecutive NFC West division title in 2007, but they struggled moving the ball on the ground as running back Shaun Alexander finished his second consecutive year under 1000 yards and less than a four yard per carry average. The offense relied heavily on quarterback Matt Hasselbeck who had a 91.4 percent rating and almost 4,000 yards. After a combined 36 points in the fourth quarter in the NFC Wild Card game the Seahawks ran out of steam after the first quarter of the NFC Divisional game and lost to the Packers 42-20.

Team Needs:

1. Wide Receiver – D. J. Hackett signed with Carolina and Deion Branch has injury problems that may cause him miss a large portion of the 2008 season, meaning Bobby Engram and Nate Burleson as the only experienced receivers on the roster. If Branch returns early the team will still need to find depth at this position.

2. Defensive Line – The Seahawks will look to add depth on the defensive line as well. Brandon Mebane will again have an increased workload but lacks conditioning, Patrick Kerney is rehabilitating a surgically repaired left shoulder and Chuck Darby signed with the Lions.

3. Tight End – Marcus Pollard is the starting tight, but has hit the free agent market and may not return, Will Heller was serviceable at times last season but wasn’t consistent enough to be this years starter, the Seahawks signed Jeb Putzier, but he is projected as a third tight end. They took a run at Alge Crumpler in free agency but lost out, so the Seahawks may use their first pick on a tight end, but more than likely will wait and try to find value later in the day.
