Redskins Revenue

Washington Commanders

According to a report from Forbes, the Redskins lead the National Football League in revenue. They also lead the NFL in operating income.

The top three teams in the Forbes list were the same as last year: the Dallas Cowboys ($1.612 billion), the Washington Redskins ($1.538 billion) and the New England Patriots ($1.324 billion). The Redskins have the highest estimated revenue and operating income at $327 million and $58.1 million, respectively.

The report also outlines how for the first time, the average value of an NFL franchise was over a billion dollars. Check out the whole article here.

Those are some pretty big numbers! When you consider that Dan Snyder purchased the team for some $800 million dollars, its pretty substantial to be earning almost half of that annually, less than ten years later.

As a matter of fact, the article also outlines that when Forbes first started ‘valuing’ NFL teams ten years ago, the average franchise was worth $288 million. So Snyder’s Redskins are earning substantially more in a year than the average NFL franchise was worth ten years ago. Those are staggering numbers if you actually stop and think about it.

It speaks to both Snyder’s obvious business acumen and the amazing growth of the NFL’s popularity over the last decade.
