The Washington Redskins head to Nashville, Tennessee to face the Titans on Sunday. The game will be played at LP Field and kickoff is 1 PM. The Tennessee Titans are tied for second place in the AFC South, but have lost two consecutive road games, including the lost to the Miami Dolphins (29-17) last week. The Redskins are coming off one of the ugliest losses in the history of the franchise, on Monday Night Football the team didn’t show up until the second quarter, as they allowed the most points at home in franchise history and embarrassed 59-28 by division rival Philadelphia.
Ten of Philadelphia’s first 15 plays went for at least 11 yards or a touchdown, as Eagles’ quarterback Michael Vick threw for 333 yards and four touchdowns, he also rushed for 80 yards and two scores. The score was 28-0 at the end of the first quarter. If you take away the first 15:15 of the game then you would have a 28-24 Redskins victory, but it’s a sixty minute game and coming off a bye week the Washington Redskins were slow coming out of the gate. Miami quarterbacks Chad Pennington (shoulder), and Chad Henne (knee), both left the game with injuries before Titans quarterback Kerry Collins had to depart with a calf injury. Vince Young replaced Collins despite a sprained left ankle, and third-stringer Tyler Thigpen took over for the Dolphins. Young threw for just 92 yards with two turnovers and Thigpen led an 85-yard drive in the fourth quarter to close out the Miami Dolphin victory.

— Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan recently referred to third downs as the money down for a quarterback. Redskins quarterback, Donovan McNabb is currently the NFL’s worst-rated passer on third downs with a rating of 44.5. The Redskins have converted 21.6 of their third downs, in other words they have picked up 24 first downs after running a third down play, Twelve teams, have converted at least 48 third downs and all 31 other teams have converted at least 33. No team has had a worst third-down conversion percentage since 1991.
— Back up wide receiver Roydell Williams replaced former starter Joey Galloway in multiple-receiver sets during the second half of Monday night’s loss to Philadelphia. Galloway’s poor route running led to quarterback Donovan McNabb’s second interception, Coach Mike Shanahan did not criticize Galloway for the play, but said “the coaching staff liked the throw. He threw it, Had the right timing, had the right footwork. I liked the throw.” Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan wasn’t so nice when he discussed the interception. The younger Shanahan said “I thought Joey could have done a better job on it, It was a tough look for Joey, but any time it’s a pick, and the quarterback’s throwing it on time, you could have done better.”
— Former Washington Redskins backup quarterback Colt Brennan was seriously injured in a two-car crash on Friday in Hawaii, his father Terry Brennan said his son suffered broken ribs, a broken left collarbone and head injuries in the crash, and that doctors didn’t know the severity of the head injuries.
— Rookie running back Keiland Williams made his first start in place of injured running backs Ryan Torain and Clinton Portis Monday night, he carried the ball sixteen times for 89 yards. Williams scored two touchdowns bringing his total to five for the season which leads all Redskins.
— Kick returner Brandon Banks averaged 26.3 yards on six kickoff returns including one for 38 yards Monday night, just thirteen days after having his knee scoped.
— “When would I ever be in touch with the center? I never blitz the ‘A’ gap. When would I ever be in the ‘A’ gap? Extra points, I’m at the end. With that said, that’s your answer. I don’t know if they’re trying to elevate a problem with no reason. The center, I keep my mouth shut about him.” — Safety LaRon Landry denied Eagles center Mike McGlynn’s charges that he spit in the face during two extra points Monday night. After investigating the allegation, the NFL decided not to fine or punish Landry saying “there was no conclusive evidence to support discipline.”
