Interviews News Washington Commanders

Team

Last week’s game was not very good. That was obvious. The one positive thing we can take away from it is that on defense we came out in the second half and played much better. I still believe and have confidence that we have a good team. The Buccaneers are also a good team. They are very young but have had good success this season. I hope the temperature is freezing cold at game time. I believe that will give us an advantage. The colder the better. We love to play in “Redskin Weather.”

As I’m sure everyone knows. Albert has been suspended. He did not want to play in the 3-4 defense. I believe when he first got here in training camp, he wanted to learn it and gave good effort. After about a week or so he decided again that he didn’t want to play the 3-4. We are a 3-4 team and we are committed to that defense because it is the best thing for us. After a while it became obvious it was not a good situation where nobody was going to win. Right now we are focused on moving forward with the rest of our season. We are focused on the guys who are committed to our team and doing what’s best for the Washington Redskins. We need guys who are willing to put the team first, guys who will do what the team asks of them and do what’s best for the team so we can win some games.

Winning championships is a team effort. No one person is going to single handedly win the Super Bowl. Football isn’t like wrestling, swimming or track. You don’t just rely on yourself. You have to rely on yourself and your teammates. A great example of this is the Miami Heat, who I have written about a couple of times. There is no doubt they have some great individual talent on that team, but until recently there was nothing special about them because they hadn’t been able to work very much as a team together and it showed in their early losses. Now they are doing much better and winning games because they are working much better together as a team now. The way I look at it is, individuals don’t win championships. Individuals make up the teams that win championships.

On a side note, I think Cam Newton should win the Heisman. He has been by far the most outstanding, best and most dominant player in college football this year. Yes, his dad did some shady things but as far as we know right now, Cam knew nothing about it, and until we find out otherwise, I don’t think its right to punish somebody in advance for what might happen in the future. I find it hard to believe he had no knowledge of what his dad was doing and maybe he will have to give back the Heisman in a few years if it’s discovered he did know. But what if he didn’t know and he doesn’t win the Heisman because people think he did, even though he didn’t? To me, you can’t punish somebody for what might happen until there is proof. I think you have to vote for him because there is no question he is the most deserving candidate.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
