Fletcher to Pro Bowl

London Fletcher tweeted yesterday that he had been added to the Pro Bowl list. Does that mean that we stop bitching about how crappy the Pro Bowl and it’s selection process is?

No way that Fletcher should have to be ‘added’ – he should have been there in the first place. He led the league in tackles (166) for crying out loud. Sure it’s great to see ‘ a wrong righted,’ but it doesn’t change the farcical nature of that NFL game in Hawaii. I digress, it doesn’t take away from the accolade and the accomplishment of a 36-year old man performing well enough to be ‘added’ to the Pro Bowl roster again in 2012. Congratulations London.

Fletcher is a free agent this offseason. Retaining the 36-year old linebacker, is arguably the team’s biggest offseason need. You won’t likely ever hear that sentence again in your life. The man defies explanation, and hopefully will continue to do so for the Washington Redskins in 2012.

Redskins Coaches at the Senior Bowl

It was announced this week that the Washington Redskins coaching staff will man the sidelines for this year’s Senior Bowl. While the braintrust didn’t even think the game was important enough to attend this year, I guess this year they will have to act like it’s suddenly a very valuable tool in the entire ‘scouting process.’ To be honest, I think far too much is made of what some of these players do AFTER they’ve ever played their ‘regular football.’ All-star games like the Senior Bowl, coupled with the Scouting Combine have made what players do in the month or two following what has sometimes been a four-year college career, far too weighted on draft day sometimes.

Regardless, it will be a fantastic opportunity for Mike Shanahan to get a look at a couple of pretty good quarterbacks in Ryan Tannehill and Nick Foles. With Matt Barkley and Landry Jones both announcing their intentions to sty in school, the vast quarterback pool has shrunk considerably, and it’s reasonable to expect that the Redskins will have been looking intently at any and all of the top quarterback prospects in the country.

  1. Redskin fans can come and meet two of our favorite former Redskin players Pat Fischer and Ron (The dancing Bear) McDole in Tysons Corner on Sunday January 29 from 12 noon til 2 PM. They will be at the Shoff card show at the Tysons Corner Crowne Plaza helping raise money for the Breast Cancer Fund. Autographs will be $10 each. The taking of photos is free as are the stories these two have to tell. The show features sportscards dealers and comic book dealers as well.

  2. Amazing Tom Brady! Tom Brady could well be the best Quarterback throughout NFL history. Sunday’s game is the the most significant game of his career. That is gonna be interesting. The Patriots are better compared to the Giants on initial down, even though they have a strong tendency to run from the exact same formation. One more thing, Lil Wayne’s rap mentor Bryan ‘Baby’ Williams is just about to bet huge on the Super Bowl (blank). He’s taking a chance on $5 mil on the New England Patriots winning the title.
