Here are some of the more interesting statistics and numbers from the Redskins tough 37-34 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday…
511 – Total yards of offense for the Redskins. Coach Jay Gruden continues to impress as a play-caller and his team continues to move the ball well. They scored 6 times, and punted 3.
427 – Yards passing for Kirk Cousins, on 30 completions (48 attempts). Add 3 touchdowns, and it was another banner day for Captain Kirk. Top numbers in the NFL in fact; he finished with a QB rating of 103.7.
325 – Yards passing for the Eagles’ Nick Foles on 28 completions (42 attempts). Not only did he play well, but getting up after the Chris Baker cheap shot was impressive.
154 – Yards receiving from Jeremy Maclin. He exposed the Redskins underbelly often.
138 – Yards receiving for Pierre Garcon on 11 receptions. He was busy, and he was effective, and he also scored a touchdown (4 yard reception). He was also 1 of 2 Redskins receivers to top 100 yards on the day. The other was…
117 – Yards receiving for DeSean Jackson in his return to Philly.
102 – Yard kickoff return for the Eagles’ Chris Polk. Fugly coverage from the Redskins.
81 – Yard bomb completed to DeSean Jackson yielded a pretty epic taunt celebration from DJax.
56.7 – Punt yard average for rookie Tress Way, including a 65-yarder. Unfortunately the net yards fell to a staggering 41 yards thanks to terrible special teams coverage.
50 – All purpose yards for Darren Sproles – 20 rushing (2 carries), 30 receiving (3 receptions). pretty pedestrian for one of Philly’s biggest offensive weapons.
33 – Yard chip shot field goal missed by Kai Forbath, and with just 10 minutes to go in the game. He had made 18 in a row up until that point – shame that the 19th was more important than the 18 before it, and could be made by a high school kicker.
22 – Yards rushing for LeSean McCoy on TWENTY carries. 1.1 yard average. Stone-walled.
10 – Penalties totaling 131 yards for Washington. Both of these numbers are preposterous.
4 – Days off between the Redskins 3rd and 4th games. Four. Giants are up on Thursday night.
3 – Touchdowns for Darrel Young in 3 games. He is becoming a very valuable red zone asset, and is quickly becoming one of the most complete fullbacks in the NFL.
0 – Sacks for the Redskins defense. It’s always worthy of note when you don’t generate much pass pressure, but its even more noteworthy when Washington had a franchise record 10 just the week before. And zero against a really banged up Eagles’ offensive line? Disappointing.
