Andre Carter Oil Painting

By Mark Solway | September 28th, 2015

When Andre Carter played for the Redskins, he was kind enough to write a blog for us every week. He has always been especially near and dear to us. Obviously with social networks, it’s easier to stay in touch with players past and present these days, and I stll follow Dre on Twitter and am friends with him on Facebook.

If you aren’t already aware, after leaving the Redskins following the 2010 season, Carter played with the New England Patriots in 2011, the Oakland Raiders in 2012 and then again with the Pats in 2013 before retiring.

He recently returned to University of California, Berkeley both as an undergraduate assistant, and to finish the studies he started there. He was a Golden Bear from 1997 to 2000 where he was a unanimous All-American and finalist for the Bronco Nagurski Award.

But I digress…

At the end of last week, an incredible post popped up in my FB timeline – an oil painting commissioned by Andre’s wife Bethany to commemorate his NFL career. With permission of both Andre, and the artist Absolon, I’m blogging it so that the rest of Redskins Nation can see and appreciate this beautiful piece of work.

“Check out Andre Carter’s son with the custom 24×36 inch oil painting I did for them as a gift from Bethany Carter commemorating Andre’s career.” – Absolon Moreau

People are awesome. Mr. Moreau, you are a seriously talented dude.

Here’s a link to his Facebook Page Moreau Art. Check out some of his work there.

This is a good time for me to add an additional word of thanks to Andre for all he did for THN when he was with Washington, and congratulations on a great NFL career. We wish you the best of luck in all you do.

I know that Dre is a Thug Daddy just like me, and that nothing makes him happier than enjoying his kids. That’s a lot of why I love the painting… it captures that essence above all.
