Kirk Cousins said there has been “no progress to speak of” in contract negotiations.

Franchise tagged in March, Cousins and the Redskins have until July 15 to work out a long-term deal. While the two sides might not have made much headway to this point, these deals usually go down the deadline, and Cousins appeared to acknowledge that reality. “July 15th will be a determining day,” he said. “So stay tuned.” We will Mr. Cousins.

Coach Jay Gruden said third-year WR Ryan Grant has had a “great camp” at OTAs.

Gruden noted Grant’s crazy work ethic and precise route-running chops. With Josh Doctson (foot) and DeSean Jackson (voluntary) sitting out practices, Grant has been getting increased reps with the first- and second-team offenses. He’s expected to open the season as Washington’s No. 5 receiver.

Redskins ILB Perry Riley (foot) has shed his walking boot.

Riley’s foot has been giving him trouble since undergoing surgery in December. He’s not yet practicing, but Riley should be ready well in time for training camp. Riley is due a $4 million salary in the final year of his deal.

Notable Quotable:

”We know we’re going to make each other better,” Norman said. ”Just got to keep challenging them, and they’ll keep challenging us.”

Jackson was absent from the final OTA session Wednesday after practicing Monday and Tuesday. Coach Jay Gruden expects Jackson to be on the field for mandatory minicamp next week.

”I was like, ‘Dang, this guy,”’ Norman said of Jackson. ”I called him up and he didn’t answer my phone call. It’s cool though. To each his own. If doesn’t want to be here he (doesn’t have) to be here. It’s voluntary. That competition’s only going to make you better.”
