Week 5: WFT Vs New Orleans – Injuries, Odds and Picks

By Mark Solway | October 8th, 2021

Both the Washington Football Team and the New Orleans Saints enter their Week 5 match-up with records of 2-2. The WFT are fresh off their big last-minute win over Atlanta, while the Saints will be trying to bounce back from a disappointing 27-21 loss to the New York Giants in overtime.

Which team will get over the .500 mark this week?

The Saints opened the week as 1.0 point favourites, but now the line has slid to about 2.5. New Orleans -2.5

The Over / Under opened at 44.0, but many books have it at 43.0 today.

Key Injuries:

For Washington, six players left the Falcons game with injuries. Torry McTyer and Jon Bostic were lost for perhaps the entire season, while Brandon Scherff, Logan Thomas, Cam Sims and Dyami Brown will all be lost for periods. It’s doubtful any of the latter four will be available against New Orleans.

On top of that, RB Antonio Gibson has a stress fracture in his shin but is expected to play in Week 5. Curtis Samuel sat out practice for the majority of the week, but is also expected to be available.

For New Orleans, their line-up has no changes from last week. They will still be without offensive linemen Terron Armstead (elbow), and Erik McCoy (calf).

Where To Put Your Money

Close to 70% of bettors are picking the Saints. That’s hard to ignore. Especially given the fact that Washington will likely have six players from last week’s roster unavailable today.

New Orleans -2.5

Under 43.0

If you are a Washington fan and need to make the homer pick, that’s okay too!

See if you can find a book that’s giving you +3 points instead of the +2.5 if you can!!

The Over / Under could go either way, but that WFT defense has got to show up and ball out eventually.

Doesn’t it?!?!?

Prop Bets

The combination of Antonio Gibson’s bad shin, and the unavailability of Logan Thomas, makes Terry McLaurin the primo target today by far. BetUs has prop bets set at under or over 5.5 receptions for McLaurin, and the over seems like a given.

If you like to try to take a bit more of a risk, consider Adam Humphries going over 1.5 receptions today. He may also benefit from the current WFT injury situation.
