The Washington Football Team will square off against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at Fed Ex Field this week. Both teams head in to Week 6 action with identical 2-3 records.

Washington are coming off a disappointing 33-22 loss to the New Orleans Saints, where squandered opportunities kept them on the losing side of the ledger. The Chiefs on the other hand, were flat out pasted 38-20 at Arrowhead Stadium by the surging Buffalo Bills.

Both Washington and Kansas City sit near the absolute bottom of the NFL in team defense.

These are not two teams who face each other very often. In fact, there have been just ten head-to-head match-ups in their history. The Chiefs have won NINE of them.

The last game between the two was in 2017 at Arrowhead Stadium, where Kansas City came away with a 29-20 victory. Alex Smith was the quarterback for KC that day, and he was 27 of 37 for 293 yards.

WFT have not beaten the Chiefs since 1983. Gulp. Joe Theismann threw touchdowns to Don Warren and Clint Didier. John Riggins had 84 yards and a touchdown, in a 27-12 Washington victory.

Points scored: Kansas City Chiefs 292, Washington Football Team 166

Injury Situation

After being hammered with injuries against the Falcons two weeks ago, Washington picked up a couple more in this past weekend’s Saints game. Samuel Cosmi had to leave his right tackle spot after an ankle injury. He tried to return, but went down again on his first play back. He is questionable for the Chiefs game.

Cornerback Darryl Roberts also picked up a quad injury against KC and is questionable.

Brandon Scherff, Cam Sims, Dyami Brown, Curtis Samuel, and Greg Stroman are all also still listed as questionable for the WFT match-up with the Chiefs.

Logan Thomas will not likely be available until at least the following week. Ryan Fitzpatrick may also return from IR then as well.

Keep an eye on the injury report to check all players’ progress before Sunday.

For Kansas City, Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Joe Thuney, Chris Jones, Charvarius Ward, and Chris Finke are all listed as questionable for Week 6 action in Washington. Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire is listed as doubtful.
