RIP Sean: Gone But Not Forgotten – 14 Years Ago Today

It’s hard to believe that fourteen years have passed since that fateful day. The day when Sean Taylor’s life was prematurely ended.

This year the organization further memorialized Sean by retiring his jersey number.

Nobody will ever don the number 21 for Washington ever again.

RIP Sean Taylor

Wallpaper Wednesday: Jonathan Allen Mobile Wallpaper

It’s #WallpaperWednesday, and today we recognize and appreciate Jonathan Allen. Allen signed a 4-year, $72 million contract extension with the Washington Football Team this past offseason.

Sometimes when a player signs their big contract, there is a let off in effort and subsequently, with success. Not with Allen. He is having his best season as a pro, having already registered six sacks. He now has 23 career sacks.

First Look: WFT Vs Seattle – Head-To-Head, Odds, And More

The Washington Football Team will square off against the Seattle Seahawks in the Monday Night Football extravaganza next week. The Seahawks are 3-7, have lost two in a row, and are currently last in the NFC West. The WFT are 2-0 since their bye – beating two upper level teams – and seem to be on a slight mid-season roll.

However, despite a big win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, and over Tampa Bay the week before, Washington are still home dogs for the Week 12 Prime Time match-up.

Head-To-Head

The Washington Football Team and the Seattle Seahawks have only faced each other 21 times – 18 regular season, and 3 post-season.

Washington have won 12 of the match-ups, and Seattle have won 9.

Their last game was late in December last season, when Seattle beat Washington 20-15.

Perhaps more notable than the game itself, was that it was after this game that former WFT quarterback Dwayne Haskins was “photographed at his girlfriend’s birthday party with strippers”.

Eight days later Haskins became the only first-round quarterback selection in the last 20 years, to be outright released.

Heinicke Outduels Newton In Important Washington Win

The Washington Football Team just won it’s second tough football game in a row. This week’s victory came on the road against a Carolina Panthers team that was up for the battle, as they welcomed Cam Newton back to their franchise. Fortunately for Washington, Taylor Heinicke was better on the day and secured a tough 27-21 victory at Bank Of America Stadium.

Heinicke threw three touchdown passes against the league’s toughest pass defense, to lead the way for Washington. He completed 16 of 22 passes for 206 yards, and ran for another 29 yards on six carries. The 28-year old made some spectacular plays. Not the least of which, was a fourth down scramble where he threw up a prayer that got answered, and kept a WFT drive alive.

Week 11: Washington Vs Carolina – How To Watch And Listen

Two teams coming off big wins, will square off against each other in Charlotte on Sunday. The Washington Football Team are fresh off beating the defending Super Bowl Champs last weekend. Meanwhile, the Carolina Panthers beat the Arizona Cardinals who had the best record in football.

Carolina will be trying newly supplanted quarterback Cam Newton at starter. He returned to Carolina last week, and scored twice on his first two touches.

Can he learn the offense quickly enough to be an effective starter this week?

The WFT will again go with Taylor Heinicke, who had his best game in over a month against Tampa Bay.

Washington would also be wise to keep an eye on the hot hand of Christian McCaffrey – who had over 160 yards rushing and receiving against the Cardinals.

Wallpaper Wednesday: Antonio Gibson Mobile Version

Antonio Gibson ran for 64 yards in the win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. On 24 carries. That’s tough sledding. His two touchdowns were an integral part of Washington’s victory.

The second year receiver-turned-running-back had a solid game. Statistics don’t tell you everything. His first touchdown run was indicative of his effort levels. He made a couple of great blocks in passing situations as well. Something he is only just learning, being new to the position.

Pissed Off Tom Brady Press Conference Transcript

The amount of headline attention garnered by Tom Brady’s post-game press conference yesterday is surprising. It was even picked up by TMZ, whose sports interests generally revolve around scandals and untimely deaths.

Would it be as news worthy if it wasn’t Tom Brady?

Probably not.

It seems to have grabbed as much or more attention than the game between Washington and Tampa Bay itself. That’s a bit of a shame when a bottom five team just beat the defending Super Bowl Champs. Read More
