With the sixteenth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected cornerback Emmanuel Forbes out of Mississippi State. Washington definitely need the secondary help – it was one of their top needs. He was the second cornerback taken in the draft, behind only Devon Witherspoon.
Was Forbes a reach over Christian Gonzalez and Joey Porter Jr. who were both still on the board? Only time will tell. Gonzalez got snapped up the very next pick after Washington made their selection.

It’s time! The 2023 NFL Draft is finally here. Let the festivities begin! At 8:00pm tonight, all of the idle speculation and pontificating ends, and the real deal begins.
These days, absolutely everyone is a General Manager, and that means that everyone needs the trade value chart more than ever before. How else can you tell somebody every draft trade scenario you can think of AND back it up with the numbers to prove it?
After all, this chart is gospel. If the trade doesn’t fit perfectly within the confines of this exact chart, then the National Football League throws it out.

The NFL Draft has a rich history dating back to 1936 when the first draft was held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Philadelphia. At that time, it was a relatively informal affair with teams taking turns selecting players for nine rounds. Over the years, the draft has evolved and grown significantly in importance into something that attracts millions of viewers each year.
The Draft itself has become the subject of incredible amounts of analysis and speculation for both experts and fans alike. It seems that every NFL fan now weighs in on what players will be selected and where, and how they might impact their team.

There are just three days left until the 2023 NFL Draft! The Draft is always the most anticipated happening of the NFL offseason, and the number of pundits and experts that chime in on their prognostications only seems to double every year. It might be interesting to study and record what percentage of them do so with accuracy and success. Tough gig.
The Commanders have a total of eight selections in this year’s draft. They do not have their own third round pick in the draft as they traded it to the Indianapolis Colts last year in the Carson Wentz deal. They did however, pick up two compensatory picks – one in the third round for the loss of Brandon Scherff to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one in the 6th round for the loss of Tim Settle to the Buffalo Bills.
Washington’s first 2023 pick will come in the number 16 slot. Funnily enough, that is where they drafted Jahan Dotson in 2022 after dealing out of the number 11 slot.
They also have the same 47 slot in the second round that they used to draft Phidarian Mathis last year. Mathis missed almost the entire season after tearing his MCL in game one.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine has now come and gone. It’s up for debate as to wether or not a player’s performance at the Combine should have bearing on where he is drafted. What’s not up for debate, is that the time these young men lay down in the 40-yard dash, will likely follow them for the rest of their football careers.

The running backs will join the offensive linemen for Sunday workouts. The Commanders picked up a pretty solid running back in the draft last year when they selected Brian Robinson Jr. in the third round.
