Not A Win, Not A Loss – Commanders And Giants Settle For Unsatisfying Tie

Bittersweet. That’s what any tie in the National Football League seems to be. It doesn’t feel like a win. It doesn’t feel like a loss. Players often have no idea how to feel about the result. Such was the case on Sunday for Washington Commander and New York Giant players and fans alike, after a 20-20 draw.

Both teams could have really used the win, as both are vying for the final Wild Card spot in this year’s playoff race.

Washington Vs Atlanta: It Wasn’t Pretty, But A Win Is A Win

There’s an old saying that you don’t get any extra points for how you win a game. That’s likely the best way to look at Washington’s narrow 19-13 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. The game was in the balance all the way until the very end, when Daron Payne tipped a Marcus Mariota pass, just yards from the goal line. Kendall Fuller subsequently intercepted that pass with just 58 seconds to go, and Washington walked away with their sixth win in the last seven games.

Even after the interception, the game wasn’t decided. Washington could not get a first down and were forced to punt the ball away with 32 seconds left. Fortunately, punter Tress Way was nudged during his punt, and the Commanders were handed yet another olive branch.

And managed another win.

Washington Spank Houston With Solid Defensive Effort

It would have been easy to let their foot off the gas after their huge win over the undefeated Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Instead, the Washington Commanders doubled down and earned a decisive 23-10 victory over a Houston Texans team that never really even got into the game. The Commanders’ victory put them at 6-5 and above .500, for the first time since winning their season opener.

Taylor Heinicke earned himself another new pair of shoes. This time a red, white and blue pair.

Commanders Knock Eagles Off Their Undefeated Perch

There weren’t a lot of people giving the Commanders much of a chance of beating the 8-0 Eagles leading into the Monday Night Football game. That’s why they play the games. Any Given Sunday. Washington stunned Philadelphia and their fans with a 32-21 victory and handed them their first loss of the season.

Eagles fans and pundits were quick to complain. And cry.

“The refs gave them the game.”

Boo hoo hoo.

Commanders Vs Vikings: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

The winning streak is over. Washington blew a fourth quarter 10-point lead on Sunday, and fell to the Minnesota Vikings 20-17 in a heartbreaker. Minnesota’s Greg Joseph kicked a go-ahead 28-yard field goal with just 12 seconds left to go. The win put Minnesota at 7-1 for the season, while the Commanders fell to 4-5.

First Look: Commanders Vs Vikings – Head-To-Head, Odds And More

The Week 9 game between the Washington Commanders and Minnesota Vikings will be the “black out” game. Not only have the field graphics been converted to black, but all fans have been encouraged to wear black. It will also bring former Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins back to Fed Ex Field. You Like That?

Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings are red hot at 6-1 and sit alone atop the NFC North division. He has thrown for multiple touchdowns the last two weeks, and after a trade deadline deal, will have a new weapon at his disposal in tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Commanders Beat Colts To Extend Winning Streak To Three

It was a battle of formerly backup quarterbacks. Sam Ehlinger stepped in for an injured Matt Ryan, and Taylor Heinicke made his second straight start for the Washington Commanders. Neither one of them looked like they’d be breaking any passing records any time soon, but in the end, Heinicke earned another pair of Nikes and came away with a 17-16 victory.

The Commanders quarterback ultimately put up decent numbers, going 23 of 31 for 279 yards with an interception and two touchdowns – one in the air, one on the ground. But in a tight match-up, it was Heinicke’s last two plays that made all the difference.

Commanders Earn Taylor-Made Win Over Packers

Taylor Heinicke might not have the most NFL-est arm in the league, but Taylor Heinicke certainly has one of the most NFL-est attitudes in the game. With Carson Wentz out for a minimum of four games, Washington’s backup quarterback took to the field on Sunday to try and win a football game. And did.

In true Washington form, fans were split down the middle as to wether or not they should throw any praise in Heinicke’s direction. The bottom line is that the Washington Commanders beat a Green Bay Packers team that almost nobody expected them to beat. Especially with a backup quarterback at the helm.
