Is Sims On The Block With The New Receiver Additions?

Washington entered  the 2021 Free Agency period with the goal of improving their stock at wide receiver. In a manner of days, they signed top prospect Curtis Samuel, and then added Adam Humphries as a slot receiver. They also added slot receiver DeAndre Carter for punt and kickoff returns. So where does that leave fourth year man Cam Sims?

Sims is just 25 years old, and is on a cap-friendly of $2.2M per year deal after signing his free agent tender in March. Adding to his lack of job security is the fact that he is a holdover from the last coaching regime – not the current one.

Curtis Samuel, WR

The former Carolina Panther has agreed to a 3-year, $34.5 million deal with Washington, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Washington considered it a big need to get more downfield speed, and did so. Not only did they fill their number two receiver slot to pair with Terry McLaurin, they chose his friend and former teammate at Ohio State. Samuels can operate outside or in the slot, and offensive coordinator Scott Turner already knows how to tap into Samuel’s versatility. Grade: A
