Taylor’s Number To Be Retired On Sunday With Zero Notice To Fans

Only two men in Washington Football history, have ever had their number retired – Sammy Baugh and Bobby Mitchell. On Sunday, Sean Taylor will enter that rarified air, and have his number ’21’ retired. The franchise is announcing it just three days before the actual event.

That seems inappropriate doesn’t it?

Doesn’t it feel like such a monumental thing should be celebrated and marketed for weeks ahead of time?

Redskins Legends Gather on Maryland’s Eastern Shore

Last night, I had the chance to head across the Chesapeake Bay to take in the 9th Annual Mickey Steele Poker Tournament, which honors a fallen friend of former Redskins quarterback Mary Rypien and raises money for charity.

Throughout the night, Redskins legends streamed in and out of the Fisherman’s Inn in Grasonville, Md. Players ranging from Rypien to Gary Clark to Reggie Branch to Jeff Bostic were in attendance.

Attending the event for my employer, What’s Up? Magazine, I was able to catch up with Rypien and Bostic as well as Ricky Sanders and general manager Bruce Allen.

We covered a variety of topics, including the tournament and how the the current Redskins squad will fare in 2013 and the debate surrounding the team name. Bostic did not hold back about his feelings on the team name.

Here is a snippet and a link to the story.

Okay, it’s finally time I present this long-winded rant about the Redskins. Just a quick disclaimer, there may be some foul language, I may target some people, and this is not going to be a rant all about the team or coaches… “fans” are as open a target as any.

You know what they say about opinions…
I have no idea what the next few weeks may hold… but I suspect that there is some fun afoot.

My plan?
Re-sign Campbell. Work on building an OL for the future. If a QB falls to us, fine. But, what the heck… nobody listens to me since my dog died.
