End of an Institution – The Hogettes Disband

After 30 years of dedication and unabashed support, the super fan group The Hogettes are disbanding. The decision was made by Michael Torbert, known as Boss Hogette.

Widely recognized for their hog noses and dresses, The Hogettes were formed in support of the Redskins famous, dominant offensive line from the called The Hogs. From there, the group’s popularity grew immensely and became engrained in Redskins society.

The Cowboys came into FedEx Field and whipped up on our butts, again. Plain & simple. It was horrible. The Cowboys own us. They have lost only once in FedEx since the place was opened. They should rent the place out more often throughout the season, especially with as many Cowboys fans who were able to get tickets in the lower deck, the place is like a home field to them. It seems like when the Cowboys go onto the field against the Redskins, they just know that some how, they are going to find a way to win the game. Having won 12 out of the last 13 against the Redskins, I’d say they have pretty much locked up the formula. There just is no spark in this Redskins team. But, enough about another cold, wet, lousy day at FedEx.

How ’bout them Redskins*!!! They went into the Meadowlands on a cold, windy December day (the usual weather up there) and whipped up on them Giants. That has not happened in a long, long time, too long a time. As Fred Smoot said a couple of weeks ago, “We (the players) have to step up and make plays.” People made plays this time around. No fourth quarter let downs by the defense. In fact, Jesse Armstead led the charge in the fourth, he was all over the field. Guess he had something to show his ex-teammates. The Redskins managed the ball very well, and young Mr. Hasselbeck played well again at Qback. With good rhythm, he got rid of the ball quickly, and again, no sacks. The
O-line had a solid game. Who is that new left tackle, any way, you never hear his name? That is good. My favorite Redskins analyst, Hog Rick “Doc” Walker called it a “quality” win. I agree. It is nice to talk about a win for a change, especially when it is the Giants.

The Redskins* lost again Sunday to the Saints, another team they could have beaten. The habit is locked in. Again our defense faltered in the fourth quarter, giving up a go-ahead touchdown late in the game. Our guys just cannot seem to make a play when they need to late in the game, whether it be on defense, offense, whatever.
Mr. Ramsey got to rest, his foot still in a cast. Mr. Hasselbeck played well at Qback. Still had good rhythm, got rid of the ball quickly, and dodged the rush pretty well. Result, no sacks. But his play, like the team’s overall play, was not quite good enough.

The Redskins* found another way to lose Sunday against Miami. The habit is pretty much set. This time it seemed the defense faultered in the fourth quarter, giving up two touchdowns to Ricky Williams in the last 11 minutes of the game. Looked like all at that “trash” talking our defense gave Ricky in the first three quaters paid off in the end. I wish our young guys would just “shut-up” and go out and play; no dancing around after a good tackle or a touchdown, just play. Mr. Williams had the last laugh and we had our seventh loss of the season. So much for the playoffs this year. Mr. Ramsey got blasted early, he needs to take a rest. It’s been a very, very long season for him. He’s probably in shell-shock. One pleasant surprise from this game was Mr. Hasselbeck played well. I liked his rhythm, the way he got rid of the ball quickly, but when he had to, he dodged the rush pretty well. I liked his play.

The Redskins* found another way to lose another football game last Sunday against Carolina. Our young runner dropped the ball on the one-inch line and our young Qback overthrew a man in the end zone and one headed for the end zone. Final score, Carolina 20, Redskins 17. Was Carolina supposed to win? Probably, they are a good team. They have a good record. They have a good defense who put a good push on the opposing Qback. And a good offense with an excellent running game and a solid passing game. For the Redskins it was a frustrating loss because they know to-a-man they were in a position to win and they did not.

The Redskins* got a huge win last Sunday at the expense of the Seahawks. First win in five weeks. October was a long month. And young Ramsey only got wacked a couple of times. But none of his O-linemen ever seem to helped him up. I cannot figure that out. Amazing. The Redskins won because the coaches decided to go for it on fourth and one from their own 25 with over six minutes left in the game. I do not think there is another coach in the NFL who would make that call except Coach Spurrier. He is a gambling man. The game, the season, were on the line. But, they made it, and all is well that ends well. Huge play.

The Cowboys win again. The Cowboys have won every game with the Redskins in Dallas since 1995. That has to be some kind of record. And the Cowboys put the ball on the ground at least four out of the first five times they had to ball Sunday. And they had at least two touchdowns called back. But, the Big Tuna never looked worried. Somehow the Cowboys know, no matter how bad it gets against the Redskins, they are going to find some way to win. And they did. Our team did not block very well again. Young Ramsey got tattooed way too many times again. And nary a teammate helped him up, or even seemed to look his way. Amazing.
