First Look: Commanders Vs Eagles – Head-To-Head, Odds And More

The Washington Commanders meet the only unbeaten team in the National Football League in Week 10 – division rival Philadelphia Eagles. The 8-0 Eagles are coming off of a bye week, while the 4-5 Commanders are coming off of a heartbreaking last minute loss to the Minnesota Vikings. As if that weren’t tough enough for Washington, it’s the Monday Night Football game.

The game will be played at Lincoln Financial Field – kickoff at 8:15 p.m. EDT – and can be watched on ESPN.

First Look: Commanders Vs Colts – Head-To-Head, Odds, And More

The Week 8 game at Lucas Oil Stadium would have certainly been circled on Carson Wentz’ personal calendar. Not only did he come over to Washington from Indianapolis in the off-season, but did so, to a chorus of unprofessional psychobabble from Colts owner Jim Irsay. Unfortunately for Wentz, he’s sidelined with a broken finger and Taylor Heinicke will be starting in his place.

Washington’s backup quarterback will get his second straight start, after a hard-fought win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 7.

First Look: Washington Vs Tennessee – Head-To-Head, Odds & More

The Washington Commanders were spanked at At&T Field on Sunday. They had their second division match-up in as many weeks and came away 25-10 losers to the Dallas Cowboys.

This week, they face the Tennessee Titans who are coming off of a gritty 24-17 divisional win over the Indianapolis Colts. It was the Titans second consecutive win after dropping their first two games. Their 2-2 division record has them sitting tied with the Jacksonville Jaguars atop the AFC South.

The Commanders (1-3) on the other hand, are already two back of the 3-1 New York Giants and 3-1 Dallas Cowboys, and three back of the undefeated 4-0 Philadelphia Eagles.

So how is the match-up shaping up?

First Look: Washington Vs Dallas – Head-To-Head, Odds And More

The Washington Commanders were demoralized on Sunday. They had their first division match-up of the 2022 season and failed miserably in their 24-8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Washington will face another division match-up this weekend when they face the Dallas Cowboys.

Two teams on different trajectories. The Cowboys were expected to fall apart when they lost quarterback Dak Prescott, but have put together back-to-back wins with Cooper Rush at the helm. Dallas knocked off the previously undefeated New York Giants 23-16 in the Monday Night game.

The Commanders started the season on a winning note, but have since dropped their last two. And failed to score a single point in the first half of both games.

So how is this week’s upcoming NFC East match-up, shaping up?

Rookie Jonathan Allen Done For The Season

The staunch Redskins defense received some tough injury news yesterday – rookie defensive lineman Jonathan Allen is done for the remainder of the 2017 season. Allen suffered the injury in the second half of Washington’s 26-24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Allen sustained a Lisfranc sprain, and although at first Redskins head coach Jay Gruden seemed optimistic about a quicker return, news broke yesterday from several outlets that Allen will require surgery, and is indeed done for the remainder of 2017.

Bye Week Gives Redskins A Chance to Heal Their Injuries

Two things were clear at the end of the Redskins game against the Chiefs on Monday night, Washington had not only lost the game, they had lost some personnel as well. The two went hand-in-hand. They will benefit greatly from an early season bye week, as the extra time will obviously allow some injuries to heal enough to play. How those injuries progress will affect the team Washington can field, and subsequently, the Redskins odds for the next game.

With the bye, Washington don’t play again until October 15th against the San Francisco 49ers. The Redskins had this game highlighted on the calendar already, as they will be facing former coach Kyle Shanahan, and it will be Pierre Garcon’s first time back at Fed Ex Field since leaving in the offseason.

Redskins Injury Situation Reached Near Comical Proportions Against Chiefs

The Redskins suffered a tough loss to the Chiefs on Monday Night, and given the ridiculous injuries that piled up, it isn’t that hard to understand why a Washington defense that was stuffing Kansas City – suddenly couldn’t.

While there have been mentions of the injuries in many articles, few seem to talk about the collective effect that these injuries had. There were so many that it was hard to follow. Several players went down – only to return; making it even harder to follow.

I have to admit, even though I am used to the fickle nature of NFL fandom, I was quite surprised at the number of people in the twitterverse that were throwing the Redskins under the bus for losing the Monday night game. Not because they lost to a good NFL team – but for failing to recognize some very glaring NFL game facts. Like the injuries the Redskins had to contend with.

I’m just going to take a quick look at the defense and point a few things out. I grabbed the Redskins depth chart from ESPN, and then started making a few annotations. Here is what I came up with.

HogWire’s Injury Report Week Four

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers versus the Washington Redskins

Washington Redskins’ running back Clinton Portis did not practice this week. Backup running backs Ladell Betts and Marcus Mason split time with the first-team. Head coach Jim Zorn said Mason will be active this week. If Portis sits out, Anthony Alridge would be the team’s fourth active back, along with Betts, Mason and Rock Cartwright.

HogWire’s Injury Report Week Two

The St. Louis Rams versus the Washington Redskins

Offensive Tackle Chris Samuels and Defensive Tackle Anthony Montgomery were both limited in practice this week and both were dealing with knee problems. The Washington Redskins have said they have to manage Samuels’s knee throughout the season, because Chris had knee surgery in the offseason and experienced some minor knee problems in the preseason. Coach Jim Zorn said Anthony Montgomery “has a little roughness on his knee”, and is limited in practice because of patellar tendinitis.
