Welcome to the Time Machine! The Throwback Thursday feature that allows you to swap current players with former players. Today’s edition is for middle linebackers.
You can either choose to keep the current player that holds the roster spot, or you can travel back in time in the Redskins Commandelorean, and pick up one of three players that played that position at some point.
When Washington announced earlier this week that they had a new patch to commemorate the franchise’s 90th season, they also released a list of names that fans would be able to choose from, to have a new 90 Greatest list.
Originally in 2002, Washington came up with 70 players on the 70th Anniversary, that comprised the first Greatest list. In 2012, they added 10 more players to commemorate the 80th Anniversary.
Of course it stands to reason that in 2022, 10 players will again be added to the annuls of Washington history, and take their place on the 90 Greatest.

Most Redskin fans remember – with chagrin – that Clark went on to experience great success when he left Washington. He spent eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he roamed the secondary, smacking heads. He registered over 100 tackles twice, including 102 last year when he was also a team captain.

The Washington Redskins will have five players at this year’s Pro Bowl – three selections and two alternates.
Robert Griffin III, Lorenzo Alexander, and Trent Williams all earned their first career Pro Bowl selections. In Griffin’s case, he becomes just the second rookie quarterback to ever be named to the Pro Bowl – Dan Marino was the other.
London Fletcher and Alfred Morris were also selected as alternates.

The Good
Robert Griffin III… surprise!!! Yeah it may seem like a broken record to those outside of the nation’s capital, but there isn’t a Redskins fan on the planet that is going to get tired of gushing about just how good this kid is. How about that 4th and wow? Arguably the play of the year so far in the NFL.

1) Kirk Cousins has a future in the NFL. He put on an impressive performance on Saturday night against the Bears, tossing three touchdowns, and shredding the Chicago defense time after time in the second half. Pretty impressive for a guy seeing his first real NFL game action. He looked poised and comfortable, and really seemed to have a firm grasp of his reads, and the Redskins offense.

The Redskins linebacker group has had a tough couple of seasons after transitioning to the 3-4 defense. The 3-4 is a defense that works much better with a lead. However, with the lackluster performance the offense has displayed the defense has been tasked with keeping the team in games rather than attacking at will like it is designed to do. Most of the linebacker group was either a part of the transition from the 4-3 at a different position or came from a team where they played defensive line. The staff seems to have a knack for finding players that can make the transition well though, with Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo being super examples. In 2011, the team had good starting players but, depth was an issue, mainly because of inexperience. In 2012 however, the linebacker camp battles we will witness will be epic. If the defensive line and secondary can play better this season, the Redskins linebackers could rise to be the top threat in the NFC East. Let’s get to know a little about this group of players.
