When Washington announced earlier this week that they had a new patch to commemorate the franchise’s 90th season, they also released a list of names that fans would be able to choose from, to have a new 90 Greatest list.

Originally in 2002, Washington came up with 70 players on the 70th Anniversary, that comprised the first Greatest list. In 2012, they added 10 more players to commemorate the 80th Anniversary.

Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins offense, had a very tough 2013 season. RGIII was coming off knee surgery, which really hindered his development. He didn’t have the off-season workouts that most quarterbacks and receivers have. He had to spend all of last off-season rehabbing his surgically repaired right knee.

So what can we expect from Robert Griffin III in 2014? Hopefully a healthy and rejuvenated RGIII that will be vying for the comeback player of the year next season. New Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, who worked with Andy Dalton in Cincinnati, can definitely help RGIII become a much better quarterback.  Read more... It was another roller coaster ride for Redskins Nation on Sunday, as the Redskins struggled early, and then struggled to put the Vikings away after dominating through most of the middle of the game. In the end, Robert Griffin III’s two rushing touchdowns, proved more than Minnesota could handle, and allowed Washington to come away a 38-26 victory – their first home win in nine tries. The loss ended a three game winning streak for the Vikings, and dropped them to 4-2 on the season.

We swept the Giants this year, with a very solid game against the Giants yesterday, following up on a very good performance in a shootout against one of the best teams/offenses in the league in New England. That was following a decent performance through 50 minutes against the Jets with Rex having a very off day. And that’s following a very good win against a young Seahawks team who just seems to give everyone fits.

Rex Grossman’s play has been up and down, as expected, and he still makes way too many mistakes, and some of them crucial. But under Rex Grossman, this offense seems to take a little flight. It’s true that receivers like the ability to go deep and not have to get smacked around in the middle after a 5-yard slant. It’s also true it opens up those 5-yard slants to keep defenses honest to the threat. Rex Grossman gives us a chance to be a lethal offense… but that’s it… a chance.  Read more... First of all, for all the people shocked at the chippyness of this game, and how these two teams could possibly be rivals, I’ll say to you that you can look no further than any other game we’ve played against the Seahawks. They’ve all been chippy, and they’ve all been tough. While Trent Williams was the key guy in a lot of the video getting into it, and while it’s documented that the Seahawks may have started it by taking offense to a Redskins huddle at midfield, I wouldn’t count out veterans like Mike Sellers and Santana Moss having a lot to do with it before the game on our side.

On to the game, the opening drive was refreshing. It’s been a long time since this team has started a game with a long drive, and even longer since scoring (a touchdown at that) on the opening drive. It was a bit disappointing following up that drive with drives that just fell short, or ended early due to penalties in this chippy game, but my biggest praise goes to Kyle Shanahan for sticking with the run. Last week, prior to John Beck’s proclamation in his impromptu media session, I made it a point to remark that Leonard Hankerson may not have been to blame for the INT late in the game. I said it looked as though he made a read on the corner who bit down, and Beck threw it to where Hankerson would have been had he just contested Gamble for the catch instead of trying to make a play by getting open downfield. John Beck confirmed that, and whether he was just being the pro and leader and taking the bullet for his guy or not, is left to nothing but speculation.  Read more...
