There are just three days left until the 2023 NFL Draft! The Draft is always the most anticipated happening of the NFL offseason, and the number of pundits and experts that chime in on their prognostications only seems to double every year. It might be interesting to study and record what percentage of them do so with accuracy and success. Tough gig.

The Commanders have a total of eight selections in this year’s draft. They do not have their own third round pick in the draft as they traded it to the Indianapolis Colts last year in the Carson Wentz deal. They did however, pick up two compensatory picks – one in the third round for the loss of Brandon Scherff to the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one in the 6th round for the loss of Tim Settle to the Buffalo Bills.

Washington’s first 2023 pick will come in the number 16 slot. Funnily enough, that is where they drafted Jahan Dotson in 2022 after dealing out of the number 11 slot.

They also have the same 47 slot in the second round that they used to draft Phidarian Mathis last year. Mathis missed almost the entire season after tearing his MCL in game one.  Read more... (1453 words, 1 image, estimated 5:49 mins reading time)

It didn’t take Scot McCloughan long to establish that he’s going to be making some changes around these parts. After signing Ricky Jean-Francois early yesterday, he also cut veterans Stephen Bowen and Barry Cofield.

The two defensive linemen shared some commonalities – they both came to the Redskins four years ago – they both only played in eight games last year – and both were projected cap casualties with high bills of service for the upcoming season.  Read more... Here are 5 quick thoughts I had following the Redskins, ahem, thrilling 19-17 victory over the Titans at Fed Ex on Sunday.

1) The Real McCoy – I don’t know what Colt McCoy’s NFL future looks like, or even if he will start next week against the Cowboys, but I will tell you this – he should. He was sharp coming off the bench, and provided Washington with exactly the right mix of spark and conservativeness. His very first pass hit pay dirt when Pierre Garcon took it 70 yards to the house. Colt showed great poise down the stretch too, especially on the last drive. He finished his first start as a Redskin, 11 of 12 for 128 yards.
