POLL: Who would you like the team to PICK at #5

I looked at a number of mock draft lists today. I know these lists are usually worthless after the first couple of picks but 4 of them had the Skins taking Beasley at #5, he projects aa a great edge pass rusher. I don't have an opinion on Beasley since I didn't see Clemson play this year and I don't remember him when I watch Clemson the year before. The best college edge rusher I saw in 2015 was Gregory of Nebraska but he is low on these lists because of ganja. I am hoping the Skins trade down for more picks and focus on the OL but the guys making these lists may be right. The new GM has spent a fair amount of effort trying to upgrade our defensive personnel and maybe he tries to cap it off with great edge rusher.

CBS reports that the Dolphins are interested in trading into the top 10 to get Kevin White.

Leonard Williams would be a dream come true at no.5. I have spoken to many Raiders fans and a good number of them like the idea of a WR at no. 4.
Amari Cooper looks like the real deal as well. I actually think Kevin White and Amari are going to be really good WRs in the league so I wouldnt blame the Raiders at all.
Jacksonville has a defensive minded coach so I dont see how Williams makes it past Jacksonville. Even though Jacksonville has a good defensive line. How can they pass up a chance to have a legendary defensive line?

The Titans could very well take Williams at no.2 as well.

My draft board goes like this. My main goal is to acquire more picks in the first round. If not then best player.

1. If Marriota is available. All in on trading this pick to the Eagles or the highest bidder. I even entertain the thought of drafting Marriotta and starting over with Marriota as QB. Even though I support RG3. If no takers are available I draft Marriota and see what I can get for RG3. If I dont like the deal I have an all out QB competition. San Francisco once had Montana and Young on the same team. Then again if I were GM I am confident I could fill the roster in one draft and season.

2. Winston?
What if Winston dropped to no.5? Its the most unlikely option but if Winston somehow gets a DUI before the draft it could very well happen.
If this happened I would also listen to offers. If I did not get at least two first round picks for him I would draft him as well. Winston is going to be a stud. He is already NFL ready skill wise. He would instantly make us a contender and we wouldnt have to groom him. Hed be ready right away skill wise.

3. Leonard Williams
I would also listen to offers from teams. If we can get two first round picks and another second round pick I make the deal.
If I cant get that then I draft him.

4. Amari Cooper
I thought about this long and hard. Cooper,Kevin White, Vic Beasley, Dante Fowler Jr. or Danny Shelton?
Of all these players who was the best? To me its Cooper in a landslide. Cooper is a player who has almost perfected his craft. You dont see that with the other prospects mentioned they all need some refinement. Cooper is ready to go. Cooper posseses everything you look for in a player not just a WR.
Just watch some film on Cooper and see how he runs routes, never drops passes and routinely puts up big numbers. He also is never in any trouble. Good character.
I am highly intrigued with Kevin WHite as well but White is not as polished or proven as Cooper. So its a bit riskier to take White.

5. Kevin White
Im hoping a team out there wants Kevin White and are willing to trade up for him. If not then I draft him. Im throwing out need vs talent on this one. I am a defensive minded guy so believe me I thought about it.
Kevin White has the highest ceiling but has bust potential as well. His potential is too high for me to pass up on him. He offers more potential then maybe any player in this draft. While not being as polished as Cooper or Winston.
6-4 210lbs, runs a 4.3 has the stats to go along with all that! Are you kidding me?
Look at the pass rushing prospects. They all look like solid picks but none of them look like Clowney did last year. Basically Kevin White looks to be Clowney talent wise as a WR.

Dream scenerio

Marriota or Winston drop to no.5. We get two first round picks and a second round pick.

If this happened then I would hope to take two of these players listed.
Kevin White, Danny Shelton, Trae Waynes or Landon Collins.
Getting two from this group would not be bad at all. In the second round since we acquired an extra second round pick I use both 2nd round picks on Oline. Now that would be great.

If Williams makes it to 5 we take him - if either QB makes it to 5, we trade the pick

I dont like Gregory as a prospect. Hes just too small in my opinion. Plus he has bust written all over him. How do you get a DUI after a bad performance at the combine?

If Dupree is available Id rather us take him if we trade down.

Heres my OUTSIDE THE BOX Pick 5 and 7rd mock

1- Trea Waynes CB/Mich St
2- Donovan Smith OT/Penn St
3- Ben Koyack TE/ND
4- Lynden Trail OLB/Norfolk St
5- Shaq Mason C/Georgia Tech
6- Antwan Goodley WR/Baylor
7- Derrick Lott OLB or DE/Chattanooga

Reasoning: I believe Waynes is BPA at 5 and CB is a premium position. With Amerson falling off and Hall being real old, large cap # and coming off injury, its easy to justify this selection. Smith improves OL. Koyack provides depth as Reed cant prove to stay healthy. Trail adds depth at OLB or if he gains weight could play DE in 4 man fronts. Mason would push Kory. Goodley would replace Moss as a slot guy, returner and Baylor connection to RG3. Lott at 6'4" 300 can move inside in 4 man fronts and play DE in the 3-4 (versatile).

This would allow the team to try Amerson at FS or trade him. MAYBE with Ike Taylor retiring and H.Miller getting older MAYBE we can trade Amerson/Paul to the Steelers for #22 maybe even throwing in a future mid/late round pick to make this happen....SELECTION: Byron Jones DB/UConn.......

^^ we stocked up on CB this offseason.. Amerson is likely a sub and Hall *likely has been pushed to nickle duties.

Would be VERY surprised to see a CB called @ 5... unless he is the Darrell Green reincarnate!

I think Amerson can be good if he were put in the right scheme. He was asked to do too much from a terrible defensive coordinator.
Then again we have a rookie D coordinator so I am not sure how its going to go.

Trae Waynes at no.5 I wouldn't complain. Not my first choice of position to go after but hes worthy of a top ten pick. Hes the best corner prospect.

I don't think we "stocked up" at CB but I did forget about Culliver signing. You can NEVER have too many good CBs..as offenses usually deploy a lot of 3 wr sets. Trea Waynes is a "homer pick" He and Melvin Gordon are from my HS......

If Scott does go BPA approach, then Waynes, Beasley or either WR would be the possibilities. Gregory probably before the failed combine test. Mariotta maybe if we can move RG3 in that amount of time...I don't think you can have all 3 QBs here this year. RG3 has a 1/2 year IMO and if he does well will see the rest of year...IF he tanks or gets hurt again, Cousins should get the hard look at....I just don't see McCoy being the viable future.

If we drafted Cooper its simple. You just run more 3WR sets.
Amari Cooper, Desean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. Thats a pretty good set of WRs.

We once had Clark, Sanders and Monk. So its not like it would be a problem. Gruden ran plenty of 3Wr sets so its not anything new for Gruden.

But if we must. I say I would play all three and test them all out. If Cooper is as advertised he should beat them all out for the no.1 reciever position. By next year we should get rid of Garcon and we would have Cooper and Jackson as our starters.

it's patently obvious that many here do not understand the BPA scenario or what is really going on here

HOPEFULLY we are now planning ahead & adding players that will help the franchise not just for now but more importantly in 2 or 3 years

I have no basis for this but IMO Mariotta will benefit better because he will be better prepared by the coaches to play in the NFL and while I thought that Robert would adapt better than he did, he definitely was hurt by his first year in the NFL

IMO Robert's development from college QB to the NFL was hurt by not immediately being coached and prepared better by the Shanahans

I would not completely rule out these guys taking a talent like Mariotta and making him into a good NFL QB - not likely, but ...

To say that 1 of our starting receivers wont be here is just speculation......contracts can be restructured and the cap goes up every year. when talking BPA at the #5 position is splitting hairs by fractions of a point between a few prospects....so you CAN draft for need. I don't think our starting QB has what it takes. RG3 was having decision making problems last year. He isn't as smart as Brady, Rodgers or Brees....I don't think these wrs are a Calvin Johnson type caliber

Really the only thing I dont want to happen is this.

Tampa picks Winston
Tenn picks Mariota
Jacksonville picks Williams
Oakland picks Fowler

If the draft goes any way other than that then we either get the best overall player in the draft in Williams, one of the most dynamic OLBs to come out of the draft in recent history (minus jj watt) in Fowler, or trade bait for more picks in Mariota/Winston.

If it does go like the above, its a hard pick between Beasley or cooper/white to me, I think id go with cooper or white though.

I think Tennessee takes Williams - the other 3 franchises are likely to make a huge mistake like we would most likely do if we had the same guys in charge here that we've had for decades (well since 1999)

I don't think we'll take Fowler but Beasley looks promising

1) We made so many defensive moves in free agency. Rightly so.
2) We have so much invested in RGIII and really need him to be successful.

Sherff to me cant be worth a #5 pick if the talk is that he likely isnt good enough to play right tackle and instead well move inside to play guard. if we dropped to 10 or lower then I say go for it.

Beasley or Fowler seem like the 2 most likely choices for us at 5, followed by white or cooper.

Also a trade back could very well land us Landon Collins.

My ideal scenario is we trade back, pick up an extra 1st or 2nd this year, and I really want a 1st next year. Trading onto future years makes the most sense for us considering how many players we need, and the increased value we get from it.

I have him as a top 10 guy, too... But, NOT a top 5 pick. There is "good enough" talent to be found later. IF we pick at 5., it must be a killer.

'Course, Mariotta isn't actually top 5, either, but he will go there because (as we well know) teams go stupid for a quality QB.
